Legendary rock band Rush has teased a special event at the upcoming 2026 Juno Awards held in Hamilton this Sunday. In a newsletter to fans, the band hinted at a unique moment with Geddy & Alex, urging fans to join in. This enigmatic message was accompanied by a link to purchase tickets for the Junos on March 29.
Last fall, Rush’s Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson revealed plans for a 2026 tour, marking the band’s first live performance with Anika Nilles, who stepped in as the new drummer following Neil Peart’s passing in 2020. Nilles, a talented German drummer known for her popular YouTube channel and prior work with Jeff Beck in 2022, received praise from Lee during an interview in 2023.
While no specific details were disclosed, a potential appearance by the band at the Junos could offer fans a first look at the current lineup before their upcoming world tour. Named Fifty Something, the tour will commence in Los Angeles in June, featuring stops in Toronto, Vancouver, and Edmonton later in the year.
Rush, originating in Toronto in 1968, debuted their self-titled album in 1974, subsequently releasing 19 studio albums. The band has achieved significant commercial success with 24 gold albums, 14 platinum albums, and three multi-platinum albums. Recently, Rush unveiled the Grace Under Pressure: Super Deluxe box set, highlighting their iconic 1984 concert at Toronto’s Maple Leaf Gardens, considered a pinnacle of their creative prowess by many fans.
Throughout their illustrious career, Rush has garnered accolades, including Juno wins for most promising group in 1975, and consecutive group of the year awards in ’78 and ’79. In total, the band has secured 10 Juno Awards, notably winning the inaugural Juno for best hard rock/metal album with their 13th album, Presto, in 1991.
CBC Music has attempted to reach out to Rush for additional comments on the matter.
