“House Democrats Reveal New Epstein Photos Amid DOJ Deadline”

Date:

U.S. House Democrats have unveiled a fresh batch of photos from the belongings of the deceased convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, showcasing his connections with prominent figures. This release comes as the Department of Justice faces a looming deadline to disclose numerous case files on the late financier by the week’s end.

The images revealed on Thursday are part of over 95,000 photos obtained by the House Oversight Committee through a subpoena following Epstein’s passing in a New York prison in 2019. Additionally, a law passed by the U.S. Congress and signed by President Donald Trump mandates the Justice Department to release its files on Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell by Friday.

Speculation and interest are high regarding the contents of these files, given the conspiracy theories surrounding Epstein’s relationships with figures such as Trump, former President Bill Clinton, and Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. Previously, House Democrats disclosed photos featuring Trump, Clinton, and Mountbatten-Windsor, who faced scrutiny leading to the loss of his royal title.

Among the recent images are snapshots of Epstein cooking with Emirati businessman Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem and conversing with scholar Noam Chomsky aboard a private aircraft. The collection also includes appearances by billionaire Bill Gates and former Trump advisor Steve Bannon.

The committee emphasized that the release does not imply any wrongdoing by the individuals depicted. Despite attempts to seek comments from Gates, Chomsky, and Bannon, responses were not immediately received.

Furthermore, the latest photos exhibit excerpts from the book “Lolita” written across a woman’s body, alongside redacted personal information from passports, visas, and identification cards from various countries. Images featuring Epstein with obscured women and girls were also included, with identities concealed to protect victims.

The committee clarified its efforts to safeguard victims’ identities by redacting sensitive information in the photos. Democrats on the committee stated that the selection of images aims to shed light on Epstein’s network and his illicit activities.

Rep. Robert Garcia, a key Democrat on the oversight panel, raised concerns about the Justice Department’s holdings, urging transparency in releasing the Epstein files promptly. In response, White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson reiterated the administration’s commitment to transparency on the matter.

The disclosure of these new images underscores the ongoing interest and scrutiny surrounding Epstein’s associations and activities, prompting calls for accountability and transparency in the handling of the case files.
