The CEO of Miller & Miller, Ethan Miller, noted the charm and heartfelt nature of Everett Lewis’s paintings, attributing their appeal to collectors. Similarly, a painting by Joe Norris, a former fisherman turned artist from Nova Scotia, exceeded expectations by selling for $23,600 at auction. The surge in value for Nova Scotia folk art is linked to a pivotal moment in 2022 when a Maud Lewis painting sold for $350,000, sparking wider interest in the genre.
Sarah Jones, co-owner of Jones Auction House in Saint John, highlighted the stability of art as an investment amidst financial fluctuations.
