U.S. President Donald Trump was seen making a controversial gesture and using profanity towards a factory worker who criticized his response to the Jeffrey Epstein controversy at a Michigan auto plant on Tuesday. The incident was captured in a video published by TMZ, which the White House did not dispute.
According to a White House spokesperson, the President’s reaction was in response to a worker who was shouting expletives in a fit of rage. Trump was touring the Ford F-150 assembly facility in Dearborn when a worker on the plant floor appeared to call him a “pedophile protector.” Trump then responded with an expletive and a hand gesture before leaving the scene.
Following the incident, the worker involved was suspended by the United Auto Workers union, although the worker’s identity remains undisclosed. The union defended the worker’s right to free speech and pledged to protect his job as per the negotiated contract terms.
The UAW emphasized that workers, including the President, should not be subjected to vulgar language or behavior. Two online fundraising campaigns on GoFundMe.com have raised over $650,000 US in support of the worker.
Despite the controversy, other Ford employees welcomed Trump during his visit to the assembly line, where he interacted with workers and posed for photos. Ford executive chairman Bill Ford later expressed embarrassment over the incident but highlighted that it was a minor part of an otherwise successful tour.
Trump has a history of using profanity in public settings, often in response to criticism or confrontation. His visit to the Michigan facility aimed to showcase his administration’s backing for U.S. manufacturing, a key focus as the 2026 election approaches. Michigan holds political significance, and Trump’s economic message has centered on domestic jobs and industry support.
