“Arrest Made After Fire at Kelowna’s Knox Mountain”

Date:

Kelowna RCMP have reported the arrest and detention of an individual following a fire incident at Knox Mountain Park on Friday. The police took action by closing off access to the park, which is situated in a residential neighborhood near the downtown core, upon the discovery of smoke and flames on the mountain slopes. Authorities, along with the fire department, assisted hikers in safely descending from the mountain. Despite concerns about high winds in the area, fire crews successfully contained the flames by 4:45 p.m. PT and remained at the scene for further monitoring.

Knox Mountain Park, described as Kelowna’s largest natural park, covers an area of 3.85 square kilometers just north of downtown. The city had conducted controlled burning activities in the vicinity on October 16.
