Taylor Heise netted her first goal of the season just 3 minutes and 57 seconds into overtime on Saturday, securing a 2-1 triumph for the Minnesota Frost against the Vancouver Goldeneyes during the Professional Women’s Hockey League Takeover Tour at Rogers Place in Edmonton.
Heise maneuvered her way into the left faceoff circle before unleashing a shot just below the crossbar to clinch the victory for the Frost (3-1-1-2) and hand Vancouver (2-1-1-4) another road loss.
Abby Hustler also found the back of the net for Minnesota, with Maddie Rooney making 27 saves in goal.
Vancouver’s lone goal came from Izzy Daniel, with Emerance Maschmeyer stopping 33 shots for the Goldeneyes.
Minnesota coach Ken Klee commended both goaltenders, stating, “Mesch is one of Hockey Canada’s top goalies. The quality of goaltending in the league was evident today. After our early power play goal (followed by Vancouver’s quick response), I thought it might turn into a high-scoring game with chances on both ends.”

With a crowd of 10,645 mostly cheering for Vancouver, the game remained scoreless for 52 minutes after two early goals. The Goldeneyes had a critical power play opportunity at 15:04 in the third period against one of the league’s weaker penalty-killing teams but failed to produce a shot on goal.
Vancouver relied on Maschmeyer’s brilliance in the final 15 seconds, with Minnesota’s Britta Curl-Salemme testing her with a powerful slapshot, but the Frost couldn’t convert on the rebound despite crashing the net.
Vancouver faced adversity early when Gabby Rosenthal’s delay of game penalty led to Minnesota’s quick goal just 54 seconds into the game. However, the Goldeneyes responded swiftly as Daniel scored less than two minutes later.
Despite some penalties in favor of Minnesota early on, Vancouver managed to regain momentum and apply offensive pressure, creating scoring chances but failing to break the tie.
