London police officers arrested two men and a 14-year-old boy on Friday after finding drugs and a loaded gun in a backpack in the city’s southeast.
Officers saw an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) being driven erratically with three people on board at about 10:40 p.m. on Dec. 27.
When they tried to stop the ATV, the driver sped away toward a green space behind a commercial plaza near Commissioners Road and Shelborne Street.
“A short time later, officers located the suspect vehicle abandoned. Checks revealed that it was reported stolen to an out-of-town police agency,” police said in a statement.
Using a police dog, one of the men was arrested and police found a backpack with a loaded semi-automatic .22 caliber rifle with defaced serial number, 31 g of Fentanyl and 50 g of crack cocaine.
The two other suspects had fled the area in a taxi, police learned. They were found a short time later on Hilton Avenue, in the city’s east end.
A loaded sawed-off shotgun with a defaced serial number was also seized by police.
A 20-year-old man, 21-year-old man, and 14-year-old boy face a slew of charges. None can be named because doing so could potentially identify the teenager, whose identity is protected under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
