Redblacks Fire Coach Dyce After Disappointing Season

Date:

The Ottawa Redblacks terminated head coach Bob Dyce’s contract following the team’s sixth consecutive defeat to wrap up the season. The decision was made after Ottawa’s 35-15 loss to Hamilton, causing them to miss the CFL playoffs for the fifth time since their 2018 Grey Cup appearance. Dyce had been associated with the Redblacks since 2016, initially as a special-teams coordinator before transitioning to head coach in 2022. While he guided Ottawa to a 9-8-1 record and a playoff spot last season after a five-year hiatus, the team’s performance declined this year, finishing with a 4-14 record. In his tenure as head coach, Dyce amassed an 18-39-1 record. General manager Shawn Burke acknowledged the challenging nature of the decision, commending Dyce for his dedication and work ethic.
