“Marko Milanovic Named Northern Super League Coach of the Year”

Date:

AFC Toronto’s Marko Milanovic has been recognized as the coach of the year in the Northern Super League. Milanovic guided Toronto to the top spot in the league’s debut season, achieving a notable 16-6-3 record. Toronto secured 51 points, finishing 12 points ahead of its closest rivals, Ottawa Rapid and Vancouver Rise, who both ended with 39 points.

The coach of the year award was determined through a voting process involving the six NSL coaches, who were not permitted to vote for themselves. This method mirrored the players’ year-end awards, where players vote for their fellow players.

Toronto led the league, consisting of six teams, in goals scored with 42 and ranked second in goals allowed at 24, narrowly trailing behind Montreal.

The upcoming playoffs will see Toronto facing Montreal in the first leg of the semifinals, while Vancouver will host Ottawa in the following match.

Before his tenure at Toronto, Milanovic had an extensive coaching background with North Toronto Soccer for over ten years, including guiding the team in League1 Ontario. Additionally, he served as an assistant coach at Toronto Metropolitan University.
