Three suicide bombers carried out an attack on the headquarters of a Pakistani paramilitary force in Peshawar, resulting in three personnel killed and at least five wounded, according to officials. The attackers initiated gunfire upon entering the Federal Constabulary headquarters before detonating explosives within the complex, reported the police.
Javed Iqbal, the deputy commandant of the force, confirmed the deaths of three paramilitary personnel. An unnamed senior official shared that the initial bomber targeted the main entrance while others breached the compound. Law enforcement, including the army and police, have surrounded the area and are managing the situation cautiously due to suspected terrorist presence within the headquarters.
Situated in a densely populated part of Peshawar, the force’s headquarters has been secured by the army, police, and security personnel, closing off the area to traffic, as stated by resident Safdar Khan. The injured, comprising two paramilitary personnel, were transported to Lady Reading Hospital for treatment, as confirmed by hospital spokesperson Mohammad Asim.
No specific militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Recent weeks have witnessed an escalation in assaults by Islamist militants following border confrontations between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Pakistan has accused the Afghan Taliban of sheltering militants responsible for cross-border attacks, a claim refuted by Kabul.
