“B.C. Lions Win Semifinal With Walk-Off Field Goal”

The B.C. Lions secured a 33-30 victory over the Calgary Stampeders in the West Division semifinal as Sean Whyte nailed a 43-yard walk-off field goal in Vancouver. Nathan Rourke, the Lions’ quarterback, threw for 223 yards with a 16 for 23 completion rate and added a rushing touchdown to the scoreboard. B.C.’s Jeremiah Masoli scored a one-yard major, Robert Carter Jr. dashed 95 yards for a kickoff return touchdown, and Whyte made four field goals, including the game-winner.

On the other side, Calgary’s quarterback, Vernon Adams Jr., recorded 334 passing yards against his former team, completing 23 of 33 attempts and throwing touchdown passes to Clark Barnes and Jalen Philpott. Quincy Vaughn scored a rushing major for the Stampeders, and Rene Paredes contributed two field goals, one of which was a 50-yarder.

The Lions will now advance to face the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the West Division final scheduled for Nov. 8 in Regina. In a separate game earlier on Saturday, the Montreal Alouettes defeated the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 42-33 in the East Division semifinal, setting up a clash with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the East final on the same day. The winners of both division finals will compete at the Grey Cup in Winnipeg on Nov. 16.
