“Blue Jays’ John Schneider Named Manager of the Year Finalist”

Date:

Two days after their World Series defeat, John Schneider has been announced as a finalist for the Manager of the Year award for leading the Toronto Blue Jays to the top of the American League. The winner of this accolade, determined by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America, will be revealed on Nov. 11. Schneider, who has been managing for four years with three full seasons, orchestrated a remarkable turnaround for the Blue Jays. After finishing last in the AL East with a 74-88 record in 2024, the team surged to a 94-68 record in 2025, clinching the division by winning a tiebreaker against the New York Yankees and defeating the Tampa Bay Rays 13-4 in their last regular-season game. Toronto’s impressive performance continued in the post-season with victories over the Yankees in a four-game series and the Mariners in a seven-game championship series before ultimately losing to the Los Angeles Dodgers in a seven-game World Series. Joining Schneider as finalists for the Manager of the Year award are Dan Wilson of the Seattle Mariners and Stephen Vogt of the Cleveland Guardians.
