Authorities in California are seeking assistance from the public to apprehend the individual responsible for a shooting incident that resulted in the deaths of four individuals, including three children, at a gathering in Stockton. The tragic incident, which occurred at a banquet hall where approximately 100 people were present, claimed the lives of three children aged 8, 9, and 14, as well as a 21-year-old individual.
San Joaquin County Sheriff Patrick Withrow disclosed that the shooting may have involved multiple shooters and extended beyond the banquet hall. In addition to the fatalities, eleven individuals sustained injuries, with one person reported to be in critical condition. Withrow urged anyone with pertinent information, including cellphone videos or witness testimonies, to come forward to aid the investigation.
Describing the incident as unacceptable behavior, Sheriff Withrow emphasized the community’s responsibility in condemning such violence and urged individuals to cooperate with the authorities. The motive behind the shooting, believed to be a targeted attack, remains under investigation.
Mayor Christina Fugazi expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the young victims, highlighting the devastating impact on their families. She mentioned the availability of counselors at local schools to support the community in coping with the tragedy. One victim was identified as 21-year-old Susano Archuleta, who tragically lost his life in the shooting.
The shooting took place at the banquet hall in Stockton, a city located approximately 65 kilometers south of Sacramento with a history of elevated homicide rates compared to the state average. Stockton recorded 54 homicides in 2024 and had reported 34 killings by October of the current year. The investigation into the incident is ongoing as authorities work to bring the perpetrators to justice.
