“All 24 Kidnapped Schoolgirls Rescued in Nigeria”

Date:

All 24 schoolgirls who were kidnapped by armed attackers from a school in Kebbi, northwestern Nigeria last week have been safely rescued, as announced by the country’s president on Tuesday. The incident occurred on November 17, initially reported as 25 girls taken, but President Bola Tinubu confirmed the successful rescue of all 24 abducted students without disclosing specific details about the operation.

Expressing relief over the girls’ safety, Tinubu emphasized the need for increased security presence in vulnerable regions to prevent further kidnapping incidents. The Kebbi attack was part of a series of mass abductions in Nigeria, with a recent incident involving the abduction of over 300 students and staff from a Catholic school in north-central Niger state. Fortunately, fifty students managed to escape over the weekend.

The escalating trend of attacks on schoolgirls in Nigeria has raised concerns and prompted calls for enhanced security measures to safeguard educational institutions and prevent future kidnappings.
