Los Angeles police have apprehended a woman for allegedly firing gunshots near the residence of Grammy-Award winning singer Rihanna, as per police and media reports. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and it remains unconfirmed whether Rihanna was present at her home during the incident on Sunday afternoon.
Law enforcement received a report of gunfire near a property in the Beverly Hills area, stated Officer Charles Miller, a police spokesperson, on Monday. Subsequently, a 35-year-old woman was taken into custody “without further incident,” and authorities recovered a firearm according to an official statement.
The suspect has been charged with attempted murder and is being held in custody on a $10 million bail. Formal charges from the district attorney are pending announcement. Although the homeowner was not disclosed by Miller, various local news sources indicate the residence belongs to Rihanna. Property records reveal the property is under a trust managed by Evan Jehle, a member of Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation advisory board.
Requests for comments were sent to Rihanna’s publicist and manager. Visual evidence from KABC-TV displayed what appeared to be five bullet holes on the property’s front gate. A police dispatcher informed responding officers via audio obtained by KABC that ten gunshots were discharged from a vehicle across the street.
The connection between the detained woman and Rihanna, if any, remains unknown. Notably, in 2018, a man was arrested for breaking into another home of Rihanna’s in the Hollywood Hills, spending 12 hours there. He later pleaded no contest to stalking, vandalism, and resisting arrest charges, receiving a probation sentence in 2019.
Rihanna, a nine-time Grammy Award recipient, has achieved 14 No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including tracks like “We Found Love,” “Work,” “Umbrella,” and “Disturbia.” Additionally, she launched the makeup brand Fenty Beauty in 2017. Recently, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky welcomed their third child, a daughter named Rocki Irish Mayers, in September.
