“Blue Jays Legend Carlos Delgado Shares World Series Insights”

Date:

Carlos Delgado holds multiple records as the top Toronto Blue Jay in team history, leading in home runs, RBI, and extra base hits. He also tops the franchise in runs scored, doubles, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage. With a 1993 World Series ring to his name, Delgado, aged 53, offers valuable advice to the Jays on managing emotions during crucial games, emphasizing that reaching the World Series is the ultimate goal for any baseball team.

In an interview with CBC, Delgado stressed the importance of embracing the moment, maintaining emotional control, and sticking to the strategies that brought them to the pinnacle of success. He cautioned against trying to overperform or deviating from what worked during the regular season, advising players to focus on hitting the ball, working the count, and elevating pitch counts.

Delgado shared insights on facing the formidable Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers, describing him as one of the most talented players in baseball history. His advice against Ohtani included using breaking balls down in the dirt and avoiding pitching to him whenever possible.

Reflecting on his experience playing in the World Series, Delgado reminisced about the electric atmosphere at Rogers Centre during the ’93 games. He highlighted the thrill of joining the Blue Jays alongside legendary players like Joe Carter, Devon White, Robbie Alomar, and Paul Molitor, likening the experience to being a kid in a candy store.

Currently, Delgado is actively engaged in community and philanthropic work in Puerto Rico through his non-profit organization, Extra-Bases, while also managing a real estate business. Despite his busy schedule, he remains a dedicated baseball enthusiast, eagerly following the ongoing series and anticipating more thrilling games ahead.
