Blue Jays manager John Schneider implemented changes to the lineup for Game 2 of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Infielder Bo Bichette, who returned to play after a seven-week absence in Game 1, was on the bench. Isiah Kiner-Falefa started at second base, while outfielders Nathan Lukes and Addison Barger replaced Davis Schneider and Myles Straw.
Despite primarily playing shortstop, Bichette started at second base for the first time in the major leagues after being added to the roster before Game 1 due to a left knee sprain. Schneider mentioned in a pre-game interview that they were cautious with Bichette’s workload after his time off and were monitoring his physical condition.
Right-handers Kevin Gausman and Yoshinobu Yamamoto were scheduled to start Game 2. Schneider confirmed Max Scherzer would start Game 3 in Dodger Stadium, with Shane Bieber set for Game 4. If needed, the Dodgers would host Game 5, while Game 6 and Game 7, if necessary, would take place in Toronto.
In Game 1, Bichette had a single in the first inning and grounded into a double play in the third before initiating the Blue Jays’ nine-run sixth inning with a walk. Throughout the season, Bichette boasted a .311 batting average and led Toronto with 181 hits.
