“Brad Marchand Supports Grieving Friend at Halifax Hockey Game”

Date:

NHL player Brad Marchand surprised attendees at a Halifax U18 hockey game by stepping in to support a close friend grieving the recent loss of his daughter. The friend, JP MacCallum, who coaches the March and Mill Company Hunters, is currently on leave after his 10-year-old daughter, Selah Panacci-MacCallum, passed away following a battle with cancer.

Despite his busy schedule with the Florida Panthers, Marchand did not hesitate to return home and assist MacCallum during this difficult time. Expressing his deep sorrow, Marchand described Selah as a remarkable girl who touched many lives with her love and joy.

Selah’s passing deeply impacted Marchand, who highlighted her strength and positive impact on his family and life. Over a thousand people gathered at the Halifax Forum to show their support for the grieving family.

Marchand emphasized his long-standing friendship with JP, acknowledging the crucial role his friend played in his life and career. He praised the Panthers for their understanding and support in allowing him to be there for his friend during this challenging period.

The hockey game served as a fundraiser, with proceeds from activities like a bake sale and jersey auction benefiting Selah’s family. Paul Graham, president of the U18 Major Hockey League, commended the community for rallying around the family in their time of need, emphasizing the strong bond within the Nova Scotia hockey community.

Graham highlighted Marchand’s commitment to his roots and the importance of supporting those who have helped him along the way. The gesture was a testament to Marchand’s appreciation for his hometown and the people who have been instrumental in his journey.
