Canada is set to compete against a familiar opponent for the gold medal at the Para Cup. Dominic Cozzolino played a pivotal role by scoring two goals and providing three assists as the home team dominated the Czech Republic with a 7-0 victory, securing a spot in the championship match of the hockey tournament. In the other semifinal match of the four-team event held in Dawson Creek, B.C., the United States, who previously defeated Canada 3-2 in the round-robin stage, convincingly beat China 13-2. The final showdown is scheduled for Saturday at 9 p.m. ET.
James Dunn also made significant contributions, scoring two goals and assisting twice for Canada against the Czech Republic. Goalkeeper Corbin Watson showcased a strong performance by making 12 saves to secure a shutout. On the opposing side, Patrik Sedlacek made 31 saves but could not prevent the Czech team from suffering a loss. The Czech Republic will now face off against China in the bronze medal match at 5 p.m. ET.
Cozzolino and Dunn managed to find the back of the net in the first period and continued their stellar performance by each scoring another goal in the second period, leading Canada to a commanding 5-0 advantage after 40 minutes. Adam Dixon also contributed with a goal, while Tyler McGregor and Vincent Boily completed the scoring in the final period.
