Canada’s Marjorie Lajoie and Zachary Lagha clinched the silver medal in the ice dance competition at Skate America’s figure skating event held on Sunday. The duo secured a total score of 197.16 points. The gold medal went to Madison Chock and Evan Bates from the United States with a score of 212.58 points, while France’s Evgeniia Lopareva and Geoffrey Brissaud took home the bronze medal with a score of 192.61 points. Another Canadian pair, Alicia Fabbri and Paul Ayer, finished in ninth place with a score of 165.68 points.
Lajoie and Lagha’s achievement at Skate America marked them as the second Canadian pair, alongside Kelly Ann Laurin and Loucas Ethier, to podium at the event. Reflecting on their performance, Lajoie expressed their pride and happiness with the outcome, emphasizing the dedication and hard work they put in between the Skate Canada and Skate America competitions. Lagha added that given the circumstances, they couldn’t have performed any better and deemed their performance as perfect.
Laurin and Ethier, who secured the bronze in the pairs event the previous day, shared their surprise and joy at winning a medal, highlighting the significance of their achievement following a challenging start to the season. They expressed their satisfaction with delivering their best performance on the international stage, showcasing their resilience and determination.
