Justin Bieber, Tate McRae, Drake, and other Canadian musicians have been named as nominees for the 2026 Grammy Awards. Bieber received four nominations for his unexpected return with the album “Swag,” including recognition for best pop vocal album and album of the year. This marks Bieber’s fifth nomination in the pop vocal album category, tying him with Justin Timberlake for most male nominations in that genre. His songs “Daisies” and “Yukon” are also nominated for best pop solo performance and best R&B performance, respectively.
Halifax producer Cirkut, a previous Grammy winner, leads the Canadian nominations with seven nods, including producer of the year, non-classical, for his work on albums by Lady Gaga and Ed Sheeran. Tate McRae, a pop star from Calgary, earned her first Grammy nomination for best dance pop recording for her song “Just Keep Watching” from the “F1” soundtrack.
Previous Grammy winners and nominees also received nods, including Vancouver’s Tobias Jesso Jr., who won songwriter of the year in 2023 and is nominated again this year. Spiritbox, a metal band from Victoria, is nominated for best metal performance. Audio engineer Serban Ghenea, a 23-time Grammy winner, received six nominations for his production work.
Drake, who last received a Grammy nomination in 2024, is nominated for best melodic rap performance with PartyNextDoor for their collaboration “Somebody Loves Me.” However, The Weeknd did not receive any nominations despite ending his boycott of the Grammys. His recent album, “Hurry Up Tomorrow,” was eligible for consideration, with Cirkut receiving a nomination for his production work on the album.
The full list of Canadian nominees includes Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Sabrina Carpenter, Tobias Jesso Jr., Cirkut, Tate McRae, Spiritbox, Serban Ghenea, Drake, and more in various categories such as album of the year, record of the year, best pop vocal album, best R&B performance, and best dance pop recording.
