Toronto Blue Jays infielder Ernie Clement made history in Game 7 of the World Series by achieving a major league record with 30 hits in a single post-season. This surpasses the previous record of 29 hits held by Randy Arozarena of the Tampa Bay Rays during the 2020 playoffs.
In contrast to Tampa Bay’s 20 playoff games in four rounds in 2020, Toronto played 18 games across three rounds this season, with both teams ultimately falling to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series.
During Game 7, Clement secured three hits, including a crucial leadoff double in the eighth inning that set the new post-season hits record. His hitting streak extended to 13 games, establishing a new Blue Jays post-season record. Clement’s impressive performance throughout the post-season included a batting average of .411, with one home run and nine RBIs.
Despite Clement’s standout efforts, the Blue Jays narrowly lost Game 7 in 11 innings. Clement’s emotional reaction after the game reflected his disappointment, as he nearly clinched the title for Toronto in the ninth inning with a deep hit that was caught on the warning track with the bases loaded.
Originally drafted by Cleveland in 2017, Clement faced setbacks before finding success with the Blue Jays. His versatility on the field was evident during the 2025 regular season, where he played in 157 games across all infield positions and delivered solid offensive contributions with a .277 batting average, nine home runs, and 50 RBIs. In 2024, Clement had also excelled with the Blue Jays, achieving career highs with 12 home runs and 51 RBIs.
