The Guelph Storm has been chosen to host the 2027 Memorial Cup, as announced by the Canadian Hockey League. This decision aligns with the city’s upcoming bicentennial celebration. Canadian Hockey League president Dan MacKenzie praised the Storm’s bid, highlighting their organizational strength and community spirit. The event is expected to honor Guelph’s history while providing a top-tier experience for all involved.

Guelph was selected as a finalist alongside the Kitchener Rangers, with both teams undergoing a rigorous evaluation process by a panel with extensive sports experience. Scott Walker, the Guelph Storm partner and president of hockey operations, expressed immense pride in hosting the prestigious tournament during Guelph’s bicentennial year.

Mayor Cam Guthrie shared his excitement, emphasizing the significance of the Memorial Cup in Guelph’s 2027 bicentennial celebrations. The exact dates for the event will be disclosed closer to the scheduled time. The upcoming Memorial Cup will take place in Kelowna, B.C., from May 21 to 31, 2026.
