These portable consoles, created as a collaboration between Microsoft and Asus, resemble PC handhelds like the Steam Deck, offering a wider range of games and customization options but also greater complexity.
The Xbox ROG Ally, priced at $799, is distinct from the Switch 2 and has been reviewed by CBC News. On the other hand, the Xbox ROG Ally X, priced at $1,299, boasts a more robust processor, enhanced memory, and double the storage capacity compared to the Ally. Both devices run on Windows 11 and are optimized for Xbox’s PC storefront.
Although the Xbox ROG Ally is not a miniaturized version of the Xbox Series console, it provides a gaming experience akin to a PC, enabling access to various digital stores like Epic Games and Steam. However, it cannot play games exclusive to Xbox consoles without utilizing Microsoft’s cloud streaming service.
