The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have raised suspicions of foul play surrounding the disappearance of a 51-year-old mother of three, who was last seen in February. Jennifer Provencal’s vanishing act is shrouded in mystery, notably because she was not reported missing until nearly three months later, when her absence was noted by a sister residing in a different province.
The last sighting of Provencal dates back to February 5 in the vicinity of her rural property in Forest Grove, a small community situated outside 100 Mile House, approximately 300 kilometers northeast of Vancouver. Her husband, Thomas Boulding, disclosed that following an argument, he left their residence and upon his return, discovered her absence.
Boulding expressed to CBC News in September that Provencal had previously left on multiple occasions, and he had anticipated a similar scenario this time. Living off-grid with only a landline and devoid of cellphones, Provencal’s sister, Johanne Provencal, based in Montreal, was unaware of her disappearance for weeks. It wasn’t until April, after contacting her nephew, that she learned of Provencal’s absence from Boulding.
Expressing shock, Johanne Provencal, after consulting with her daughter, eventually filed a police report on April 21. Meanwhile, Boulding maintains his belief that his wife voluntarily chose to depart, citing her strong-willed and independent nature. Despite intending to report the disappearance himself in April, Boulding discovered that his sister-in-law had already done so when RCMP officers arrived at his doorstep.
The investigation, handled by the RCMP major crimes unit, has led to suspicions of foul play. Police have conducted searches on Provencal’s property, with Boulding cooperating by providing personal items and electronic devices in the hopes of aiding the investigation. Authorities urge anyone with relevant information to come forward.
Both the RCMP and Johanne Provencal are eager for answers, with the latter expressing a desire to uncover the truth behind her sister’s disappearance and pay tribute to her life.
