Odell Beckham Jr. Suspended Six Games for Failed Drug Test

Date:

Free-agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has agreed to a six-game suspension imposed by the NFL following a reported failed performance-enhancing drug test last year, as revealed during his appearance on the Pivot podcast. The NFL specified that Beckham will be ineligible to participate until Week 12, according to The Associated Press.

During the podcast, the 32-year-old Beckham asserted that he was not aware of taking any performance-enhancing substances. In the previous season, he played nine games with the Miami Dolphins, registering only nine receptions for 55 yards, marking significant career lows in both categories.

Despite the setback, the seasoned NFL player, who was a first-round selection in the 2014 draft, expressed his desire to continue playing this season. Beckham had impressive performances during his initial years in the league with the New York Giants, achieving 1,000-yard seasons in four of his first five years.

After being traded to the Cleveland Browns in 2019 and subsequently to the Los Angeles Rams in 2021, Beckham managed to secure a Super Bowl victory with the Rams in the same year before sustaining an ACL injury during the game. Throughout his career, Beckham has accumulated 575 catches for 7,987 yards, placing him at the 119th spot in all-time NFL history for receiving yards.
