The Ottawa Redblacks have appointed a new head coach and general manager. Ryan Dinwiddie, who led the Toronto Argonauts to two Grey Cup victories in five seasons, is taking over coaching responsibilities from Bob Dyce. Dyce was dismissed after Ottawa ended the season with a 4-14 record, failing to qualify for the CFL playoffs.
In addition to coaching, Dinwiddie will also serve as the general manager, replacing Shawn Burke, who was appointed to that role in December 2021. Burke has been promoted to the position of vice-president of football operations within the organization.
Dinwiddie’s transition from Toronto to Ottawa was facilitated by the fact that it represented a promotion from his previous role with the Argos. The Redblacks have struggled in recent years, missing the CFL playoffs in five of the last six seasons since their defeat in the 2018 Grey Cup against the Calgary Stampeders.
