“Regina to Host 2027 Grey Cup: Second Time in Five Years”

Date:

The Grey Cup is set to make a return to Regina in 2027, marking the second time in a span of five years that the CFL final will be hosted in the capital city and home of the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Premier Scott Moe expressed excitement about the opportunity to showcase the strong fan base and community pride in Saskatchewan during the 2027 event. The President of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Craig Reynolds, attributed the successful bid for the 2027 Grey Cup to the support received from the City of Regina and the province.

Regina Mayor Chad Bachynski’s spokesperson highlighted that the City of Regina has allocated $1.5 million for the 2027 Grey Cup, covering various expenses including transit shuttle services and police support. Bachynski emphasized the welcoming atmosphere of Regina, stating that all attendees, whether long-time fans or first-time visitors, will feel like part of the family.

The upcoming 2027 Grey Cup is anticipated to be a memorable event, with promises of an exceptional experience. This will be the fifth Grey Cup held in Regina and the second at the new Mosaic Stadium. The game is scheduled for November 7, 2027, a week earlier than usual.

The Roughriders have a history of hosting the championship game, having done so four times since their establishment in 1910, most recently in 2022. Expectations are high for the team as they prepare to host the Grey Cup once again in their home city.

CFL Commissioner Stewart Johnston commended the collaborative effort from the Saskatchewan Roughriders, the province, the City of Regina, and local hotel operators in securing the 2027 Grey Cup bid. He praised the quality and support behind the bid, emphasizing the strong football culture in Saskatchewan.

A notable feature of the 2027 Grey Cup festival is that it will be entirely hosted indoors, including the street festival, providing a unique and comfortable experience for attendees. Johnston praised Saskatchewan’s bid as “truly outstanding” without disclosing details about other bidding teams.

The current year’s Grey Cup is taking place in Winnipeg, with Calgary lined up to host the event in 2026.
