The University of Saskatchewan Huskies secured a spot in the national championship game by defeating the Queen’s Golden Gaels 22-11 in the Mitchell Bowl held in Saskatoon on Saturday. The Huskies will now face off against the Montreal Carabins in the upcoming Vanier Cup in Regina.
Daniel Kubongo was recognized as the offensive player of the game for his outstanding performance, including an impressive 85-yard punt return for a touchdown in the second quarter. This play contributed to the Huskies taking a commanding 14-1 lead at halftime. Kubongo’s tribute to quarterback Anton Amundrud by displaying the number 11 added a heartfelt touch to the game.
