In a recent announcement by Spotify, Taylor Swift has emerged as the platform’s most streamed artist of all time. Following closely behind is Bad Bunny, the Puerto Rican sensation. This development follows Bad Bunny’s dominance in 2025 when he claimed the title of the streaming service’s most played artist for the fourth consecutive year, overthrowing Swift.
The rivalry between the two artists has seen them trading the top spot back and forth. Swift held the position for two years before Bad Bunny took over from 2020 to 2023. Additionally, Spotify revealed a list of its top streamed artists, with Drake securing the third spot, followed by The Weeknd, Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, Billie Eilish, Eminem, Kanye West, Travis Scott, BTS, Post Malone, Bruno Mars, J Balvin, Rihanna, Coldplay, Kendrick Lamar, Future, and Juice WRLD.
Spotify did not disclose details about its data collection process when questioned by The Associated Press. The streaming platform also compiled lists of its most streamed albums, songs, podcasts, and audiobooks in celebration of its 20th anniversary.
Streaming has become the primary revenue source for the music industry, constituting 82% of industry income in the United States according to the Recording Industry Association of America. Spotify, a Swedish company established in April 2006, holds the largest market share with over 31% and boasts 751 million users and 290 million subscribers across 184 markets.
Among Spotify’s top streamed albums are Bad Bunny’s “Un Verano Sin Ti,” The Weeknd’s “Starboy,” Ed Sheeran’s “÷ (Deluxe),” Olivia Rodrigo’s “SOUR,” and more. The most streamed songs on Spotify include hits like The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights,” Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You,” The Neighbourhood’s “Sweater Weather,” and many others.
The data compiled by Spotify showcases the immense influence and popularity of these artists and their music within the global streaming landscape.
