Victoria Mboko from Toronto swiftly defeated Renata Zarazua 6-1, 6-1 in just 53 minutes, while Carson Branstine, an American-Canadian from Montreal, outplayed Julia Garcia 6-3, 7-6 to claim victory in the final.

Canada avoided a must-win doubles match by clinching both singles matches. The team had an intense battle against Denmark on Saturday, winning 2-1 to set up the decisive clash with Mexico. Mexico also emerged victorious over Denmark with a 2-1 result on Friday.

Carson Branstine, who transitioned from representing the United States to Canada in 2017, kick-started the showdown against Mexico with a 6-3, 7-6 (5) singles win over Julia Garcia. Branstine’s performance showcased resilience and skill, triumphing in one hour and 39 minutes against the 22-year-old Garcia.

Reflecting on her victory, Branstine admitted to feeling nervous before the match due to a recent lack of playtime caused by a hamstring injury. Meanwhile, Victoria Mboko, the other standout player for Canada, displayed a dominant performance, securing the team’s advancement with her impressive play.

Mboko expressed her satisfaction with the challenging match, emphasizing the importance of securing a win for the team. Both players exhibited exceptional talent and determination, contributing to Team Canada’s successful campaign in the Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers.
