Tegan Quin Writes Marvel Comic Debut

Date:

Tegan Quin, half of the musical duo Tegan and Sara, has contributed as a writer to Marvel Comics’ special edition, “Wiccan & Hulkling: Raid of Ultron #1,” set to be released on May 27. This comic showcases the beloved gay couple, Wiccan and Hulkling, along with their families, emphasizing the significance of community and connections during challenging times.

In Quin’s narrative, brought to life by illustrator Luciano Vecchio, the story revolves around twins Wiccan and Speed as they unite to confront Ultron while navigating their distinct paths as siblings. Expressing her excitement, Quin shared on Marvel’s website, “As a twin myself, I truly can’t think of two characters in the Marvel Universe I would have been more excited to write than Wiccan and Speed.” She further added, “Making my Marvel debut with this story isn’t just a thrill, it feels downright magical.”

The comic will also showcase contributions from writers Wyatt Kennedy, Josh Trujillo, and Zoe Tunnell, as well as artists Rachael Stott, Bradley Clayton, and Stephen Byrne. Quin, who is based in Vancouver, is actively supporting Loghan Paylor’s novel, “The Cure for Drowning,” for Canada Reads 2026.

Canada Reads involves five Canadian celebrities selecting one book for the nation to read, engaging in debates over four days and eliminating one book daily until a winner is chosen. This year’s event is scheduled for April 13 to 16.

Throughout Quin’s successful career, she and her sister have released 10 studio albums featuring popular tracks like “Closer,” “Where Does The Good Go,” and “Walking with A Ghost.” Their music has garnered them numerous accolades, including Juno and GLAAD awards, a Governor General’s Performing Arts Award, and nominations for the Polaris Music Prize and the Grammy Awards.

In 2019, the twins expanded their writing endeavors from songs to books with their joint memoir, “High School,” and the middle-grade graphic novel duology, “Tegan & Sara: Junior High,” illustrated by Tillie Walden. Additionally, they established the Tegan and Sara Foundation to provide support and resources for 2SLGBTQ+ communities, earning them the Humanitarian Award at the 2024 Junos.
