At one time, Marineland was the second most visited tourist spot in Ontario’s Niagara region, right after the iconic falls. The park offered thrilling encounters with beluga whales, dolphins, and orcas, showcasing them in captivating performances alongside rollercoasters and various exhibits, making it a favored family destination.
Unfortunately, Marineland has faced ongoing controversies and accusations of mistreatment of animals, leading to a significant downturn in business that eventually resulted in the park’s closure to the public. Despite this closure, a number of animals, including 30 beluga whales, remain confined at the park. Marineland has expressed the need for funding or a new location for the whales, warning that euthanasia may be necessary if a solution is not found.
