Patriots Wide Receiver Stefon Diggs Faces Strangulation Charges

Date:

New England Patriots standout wide receiver Stefon Diggs is currently facing charges of strangulation and other offenses following an altercation with his former personal chef, according to police reports. The charges came to light after a court session in Dedham, Massachusetts, where Diggs was accused of felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery.

Diggs’s attorney, David Meier, strongly refuted the allegations, stating that they are baseless and unsubstantiated. Meier pointed out that the accusations stemmed from a financial disagreement between Diggs and his ex-chef, which was not resolved to the chef’s satisfaction.

The Patriots have expressed their support for Diggs amidst the legal proceedings, stating, “We stand by Stefon,” in a released statement.

According to a police report, the incident occurred when the chef confronted Diggs about payment while working for him, leading to a physical altercation where Diggs allegedly struck and choked her. The chef initially hesitated to press charges but later decided to pursue legal action, citing a change of heart.

Stefon Diggs, aged 32, has built a reputation as a top NFL receiver, notably excelling during his time with the Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo Bills. Following a brief period with the Houston Texans, Diggs joined the New England Patriots on a lucrative three-year contract. His performance on the field has been commendable, contributing significantly to the team’s success in securing the AFC East title and advancing to the playoffs.

However, off-field controversies have marred Diggs’s tenure with the Patriots, including a video circulating on social media showing him passing an unidentified substance to women on a boat. The NFL declined to comment on the incident, and the Patriots indicated that they would handle the matter internally.
