“Canadian Speed Skaters Secure Silver in World Cup Team Sprint”

Canadian speed skaters wrapped up the third World Cup event of the season with a silver medal in the women’s team sprint. Brooklyn McDougall from Calgary, Béatrice Lamarche from Quebec City, and Ottawa’s Ivanie Blondin clocked a time of 1:26.05 in the first team sprint of the season. They secured second place, finishing 0.87 seconds behind the gold medalists from the Netherlands. Poland claimed the bronze medal with a time of 1:26.65, skating alongside the Dutch in the final pairing.

Ivanie Blondin narrowly missed another podium finish on Sunday, coming in fourth in the women’s mass start event. Her time of 8:08.30 was just behind Marijke Groenewoud from the Netherlands (8:07.66), Mia Manganello from the United States (8:07.92), and Ji-Woo Park from South Korea (8:08.28).

In the men’s competition, Laurent Dubreuil from Levis, Quebec, finished in sixth place in the men’s 500 meters event. The World Cup speed skating series will continue next weekend in Hamar, Norway.
