“Canadian Skier Julien Viel Wins Bronze in World Cup Moguls”

Date:

Canadian freestyle skier Julien Viel secured the bronze medal in the men’s competition during the inaugural leg of the World Cup moguls season held in Ruka, Finland. Hailing from Mont-Sainte-Anne, Quebec, Viel notched a score of 79.30 in the second men’s event, marking his fourth World Cup medal achievement.

The gold medal was claimed by Australia’s Matt Graham with a leading score of 81.72 points, closely followed by Japan’s Ikuma Horishima, who scored 80.58 points. Notably, prominent skier Mikaël Kingsbury from Deux-Montagnes, Quebec, opted out of Monday’s competition after withdrawing from the men’s event on Sunday prior to the small final. Kingsbury, boasting an impressive record of 99 career World Cup victories, cited a groin injury as the reason for his absence during a pre-event press conference.

In the women’s event, Jakara Anthony of Australia dominated, clinching victory with a score of 79.89. The podium was completed by Americans Olivia Giaccio (78.64) and Jaelin Kauf (78.08). Berkley Brown, representing Aurora, Ontario, emerged as the top Canadian performer with a score of 67.59 points.
