Mother tragically shot dead by ex-partner in Ontario

Date:

Savannah Rose Kulla-Davies tragically lost her life in a fatal shooting incident in Brampton, Ontario, after meeting her ex-partner, Anthony Deschepper, on Tuesday. Deschepper, who allegedly shot Kulla-Davies before abducting their 17-month-old daughter, was later fatally shot by police in Niagara Falls, Ontario, following an Amber Alert.

Kulla-Davies, 29, had gone to the Brampton plaza to meet Deschepper to allow him to spend time with their daughter. Her family described her as dedicated to motherhood, having four children and prioritizing her role as a mom.

Despite the challenges of raising four children, Kulla-Davies was always supportive and caring, according to her brother. Her family is now seeking guardianship of her youngest child, who was the subject of the Amber Alert but was found unharmed.

Deschepper had a history of firearm charges related to a previous incident involving Kulla-Davies. He was out on bail at the time of the shooting, awaiting trial in March 2026. The delay in addressing the charges and his release on bail have raised concerns about the justice system’s effectiveness in preventing such tragedies.

Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit is looking into Deschepper’s death, while another woman who was with him during the incident has been charged as an accessory after the fact to murder. The incident has sparked calls for stricter bail reforms from Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown.

Kulla-Davies’ family, devastated by the loss, emphasized that she did not deserve the tragic outcome. They remember her as a loving mother and a kind-hearted person who will be deeply missed.
