“Mystery Surrounds Death of Large Great White Shark in Nova Scotia”

Date:

Researchers in northern Nova Scotia are still investigating the cause of death of a large great white shark that washed ashore near Pictou. The 580-kilogram male shark was found on a beach, prompting a necropsy conducted by the Marine Animal Response Society over the weekend. Dr. Laura Bourque from the Canadian Wildlife Health Co-operative in P.E.I. mentioned that no clear cause of death was determined, indicating the need for further testing.

Conservation efforts have played a significant role in the recovery of the great white shark population after a significant decline in the 1970s and 1980s. Experts also point to the impact of climate change, which has resulted in warmer ocean temperatures, facilitating the northward migration of certain marine species.
