The Prime Video show “Every Year After,” adapted from Carley Fortune’s popular novel “Every Summer After,” has been greenlit for a second season. The series, which features Sadie Soverall and Matt Cornett in leading roles and is produced by Carley Fortune, premiered this summer.
The narrative of “Every Summer After” spans six years and a pivotal weekend, revolving around Percy and Sam, childhood companions torn apart by a life-altering event and the intricate love story that unfolds when they reunite at a funeral years later.
The upcoming season of “Every Year After” will draw inspiration from “One Golden Summer,” the sequel to the series set in Barry’s Bay, Ont. In this installment, Sam’s brother Charlie, a beloved character, finally finds romance. The plot centers on Alice, a photographer seeking solace at her childhood retreat with her grandmother. However, her plans for tranquility are disrupted when Charlie, charismatic and irresistible, resurfaces unexpectedly. As their paths cross, Alice is transported back to her youth, pondering if this summer could hold unforeseen possibilities.
Peter Friendlander, Prime Video’s global TV chief, praised the remarkable reception of “Every Year After,” highlighting the broad appeal of Carley Fortune’s storytelling and the audience’s strong connection to the Barry’s Bay universe.
