Kaillie Humphries intensified her training for the upcoming Milan Cortina Olympics by securing her first victory since 2023 on Sunday. The U.S. bobsledder, who previously won gold for Canada in the two-woman events at the Vancouver and Sochi Olympics, as well as a bronze in Pyeongchang in 2018, triumphed in the World Cup alongside Emily Renna in Sigulda, Latvia.
After transitioning to represent the United States and claiming monobob gold at the 2022 Beijing Games, Humphries took a break from the sport in December 2023 due to her pregnancy. The 40-year-old athlete expressed her joy at returning to the top spot after three years, emphasizing the significance of this win as a new mother and also as Renna’s first victory.
Describing the victory as an early Christmas gift for both of them and their team, Humphries highlighted the special nature of the achievement. The bobsleigh competition at the Milan Cortina Olympics is scheduled to take place in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy from Feb. 12-22.
