“Minnesota Frost Triumphs with 3-0 Victory in Record-Breaking Match”

Date:

Kelly Pannek netted two goals and Nicole Hensley secured a shutout as the Minnesota Frost, the two-time defending champions, delivered a 3-0 victory over the Seattle Torrent, disappointing a record-breaking crowd in women’s hockey on Friday. The game attracted 16,014 fans, marking the largest attendance for a women’s hockey match in a U.S. arena, as it was the inaugural home game for the Torrent.

In the first period, Pannek capitalized on a rebound, slipping a shot past Torrent goalie Corinne Schroeder, who struggled to control the play. Pannek notched her second goal of the season in the third period, and Grace Zumwinkle added a power play goal to seal the victory.

Hensley’s outstanding performance included 30 saves for the Frost, while Schroeder, coming off a season with four shutouts for the New York Sirens, made 22 saves for the Torrent. Both teams had two power play opportunities during the game.

Looking ahead, Minnesota is scheduled to face Ottawa on Tuesday, while Seattle will host New York on Wednesday for their next matchups.
