This win propels Montreal into the Vanier Cup, U Sports football’s national title game, where they will take on the Saskatchewan Huskies. Meanwhile, Saskatchewan secured their spot in the Vanier Cup by defeating the Queen’s University Gaels 22-11 in the Mitchell Bowl shortly after Montreal’s triumph.
Carabins’ quarterback Pepe Gonzalez showcased a strong performance, completing 18 of 26 passes for 168 yards, including one touchdown pass and one interception. Enrique Jaimes Leclair caught Gonzalez’s touchdown pass, while Gregory Mulenda-St-Pierre added another rushing touchdown for the RSEQ champions.
Montreal dominated the game, establishing a commanding 22-2 lead by halftime and continuing their strong performance in the second half. The team’s lowest-scoring quarter was the first, where they scored eight points, but they consistently scored over 13 points in subsequent quarters.
