Prime Minister Mark Carney is set to visit Norway this Friday to witness the NATO Cold Response exercise held above the Arctic Circle. The biennial Cold Response exercise, led by Norway, involves approximately 25,000 troops from 14 nations training together in Arctic conditions to conduct land, air, and sea operations.
Countries participating in the exercise include Canada, the United States, the U.K., Germany, the Netherlands, France, Sweden, and Finland. During his time in Oslo, Carney is expected to engage in discussions with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store on topics such as trade, investment, clean energy, critical minerals, and the aerospace sector.
Additionally, the prime minister will participate in the Canada-Nordic summit to collaborate with other Nordic leaders on enhancing geopolitical cooperation. Before heading back to Canada, Carney plans to make a stop in London for a meeting with U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer to discuss defense matters and the ongoing situation in the Middle East.
