Prime Minister Mark Carney is embarking on a nine-day journey to Malaysia, Singapore, and South Korea towards the end of this month to participate in two international summits. His itinerary includes attending the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit in Kuala Lumpur, where he will engage in discussions on trade with Malaysia’s prime minister.
Following this summit, Carney will meet with Singapore’s prime minister and regional business figures to explore ways to eliminate trade barriers and attract global investments. The trip will conclude in South Korea, where Carney will participate in a gathering of Asia-Pacific economic leaders in Gyeongju.
During his visit to South Korea, the prime minister intends to tour the shipyard operated by Hanwha Ocean, a leading contender for a contract to construct new Canadian submarines. Carney’s visit to Asia is scheduled from October 24 to November 1.
