Certain models of Vesta tankless water heaters have been recalled due to fears of carbon monoxide poisoning. Vesta, along with Health Canada and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, issued a joint recall for these heaters. The recall was prompted by reports of cracked exhaust ducts, which could lead to the escape of harmful gases inside homes, creating a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning that may be fatal or cause serious harm.
Health Canada advises individuals with these water heaters in their homes to cease using them immediately and reach out to Vesta to arrange for a certified technician to install a free repair. The recall affects VRS and VRP models, as well as specific VRS-Plus and VRP-Plus models.
According to Vesta, around 3,496 units of the affected products were sold in Canada between May 2017 and July 2025. As of October 10, the company has received 10 reports of cracked exhaust ducts in Canada and 33 in the United States, with no reported injuries or fatalities.
Customers can contact Vesta by phone at 1-888-505-5525 during business hours or via email at condensingwaterheater@realtimeresults.net. Online assistance is also available through the company’s website. Health Canada encourages consumers to report any health or safety incidents associated with the use of these products.
