Woman Charged in Murder Case Linked to Brampton Amber Alert

Date:

A 36-year-old woman faces charges as an accessory to murder after being discovered with a man suspected of killing a woman in Brampton, Ontario, prompting an Amber Alert. The man, Anthony Deschepper, 38, fled the scene with his one-year-old daughter and was set to face trial on firearm charges next year. The woman, with ties to Brampton and Niagara Falls, was found with Deschepper at a gas station in Niagara Falls, where he was fatally shot by police.

Deschepper was also facing firearm-related charges from a prior incident involving the same woman who was killed in Brampton. The woman who died has been identified as Savannah Kulla, 29. She was shot in a plaza parking lot in Brampton. Deschepper fled with his child in a Nissan Kicks but the child was later found safe after being left with relatives.

Deschepper was shot by police during an encounter and pronounced dead at the scene. Advocates have called for more actions to prevent femicide, highlighting the need for systemic changes beyond the justice system. They emphasize the importance of recognizing risk factors and providing adequate support and resources to prevent such tragedies.
