Justin Bieber broke a new record at the American Music Awards by clinching the title of best male pop artist for the fifth time. Hailing from Stratford, Ontario, Bieber had already secured this honor four times in the past. His initial win in this category, previously known as favorite pop/rock male artist, dates back to 2010.
At this year’s awards ceremony in Las Vegas, Bieber had four nominations, including artist of the year and album of the year for his work on “Swag.” This recent victory now brings Bieber’s total American Music Awards count to 19, putting him on par with the late Kenny Rogers for the second-highest number of wins by a male artist. The top spot among male artists still belongs to the late Michael Jackson, who holds 24 awards.
Justin Bieber made a remarkable return to the stage last month at Coachella, headlining the event and marking his first major performance since canceling a tour in 2022 due to health issues related to Ramsay Hunt syndrome.
Among the other notable winners at the awards show were BTS, who secured the artist of the year title, and Sabrina Carpenter, who emerged victorious in the album of the year category.
