“Canada’s Courtney Hoffos Secures Silver in Ski Cross World Cup Opener”

Courtney Hoffos kicked off the ski cross season at the World Cup by securing a spot on the podium. Hailing from Windermere, B.C., she clinched second place in the big final, earning a silver medal in Val Thorens, France.

Returning from a season marred by injury, Sweden’s Sandra Naeslund claimed gold, notching her 40th career victory on the World Cup circuit. Mylene Ballet Baz from France completed the podium with a bronze finish.

In the women’s competition, Canada’s Britt Phelan took the second spot in the small final, ultimately finishing in sixth place overall. The men’s event saw an Italian dominance with Simone Deromedis and Edoardo Zorzi capturing gold and silver, while France’s Youri Duplessis-Kergomard secured the bronze.

Despite a strong performance, Kevin Drury, the leading Canadian male ski cross athlete, did not complete his quarterfinal heat.
