Goalkeeper Léa Palacio-Tellier has clinched the title of Canada Soccer’s 2025 Futsal Player of the Year for her pivotal role in leading Canada to victory at the first-ever FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup. Hailing from Montreal, the 28-year-old excelled as the best goalkeeper during the 2025 CONCACAF W Futsal Championship in May, where she only conceded four goals in the group stage. Canada secured wins over Mexico in a dramatic penalty shootout during the semifinals and triumphed over Panama in the final.
Palacio-Tellier showcased her skills in all three matches for Canada at the recent World Cup held in the Philippines. Praising her contributions, Canada futsal coach Alexandre Da Rocha emphasized her leadership qualities and consistency, noting her standout performances that were crucial for the team’s success. The Canadian team staff selected Palacio-Tellier as the deserving recipient of this prestigious award.
