“Blue Jays Sign Pitcher Tyler Rogers to $37M Deal”

Date:

The Toronto Blue Jays have officially signed Tyler Rogers, a right-handed sidearm pitcher, to a lucrative three-year contract worth $37 million. Rogers will receive a $5 million signing bonus, with annual salaries of $7 million for the upcoming year and $12 million for each of the following two seasons.

Included in Rogers’ contract is a $12 million vesting option for the 2029 season, which would become guaranteed if he meets certain pitching criteria by the end of the 2028 season and passes a physical examination. In the event the vesting option does not activate, there is a $9 million team option for 2029 with a $1 million buyout clause.

The 34-year-old Rogers, who led the major leagues this year with 81 pitching appearances split between San Francisco and the New York Mets, has been known for his consistency and is a top reliever in baseball. His impressive track record includes leading the majors with 403 appearances and 406 1/3 relief innings since 2020, boasting a career 2.76 earned-run average in 420 games for both teams.

The Blue Jays have been bolstering their pitching staff, also securing deals with Dylan Cease and Cody Ponce. Additionally, they acquired reliever Chase Lee from the Detroit Tigers. The young left-hander Lee, a promising talent from Alabama, had a solid rookie season with the Tigers in 2025, showcasing a 4.10 ERA and impressive stats in strikeouts and walk rate.

As part of the roster adjustments, left-hander Justin Bruihl has been designated for assignment to make room for the new additions. Lee, a former prospect from the University of Alabama, has shown potential in both the minor leagues and his rookie MLB season, making him a valuable addition to the Blue Jays’ bullpen.
